Italian Herbed Fish

Learn the correct way to barbecue fish for healthy eating – with generous use of oregano basil and olive oil there is no compromise on taste.

Ingredients Italian Herbed Fish

  • 500 g/1 lb fish fillet
  • 4 cup flour (maida)
  • 6 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cup chopped fresh basil or parsley
  • 1 tsp red chilli flakes
  • 12 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp oregeano
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 2 tsp lemon juice


  • a few florets of broccoli, slices of carrot and peas – steamed
  • lemon wedges

  • Cut fish into big fillets, about 5″x3″ pieces. Wash the fish well. Pat dry on a kitchen towel. Spread flour in a plate. Roll the fish fillets on the flour to coat and absorb any moisture.
  • In a wide dish, mix all the remaining ingredients.
  • Add fish and toss to coat. now it’s marinated for 2 hours at room temperature.
  • Oil the barbecue plate. Preheat barbecue to low medium heat. Place fish pieces on the plate and leave extra marinade behind.
  •  Cook for 10-12 minutes or till cooked. Overturn the fillet in between, basting with the remaining marinade or some olive oil. Serve hot with steamed vegetables and lemon wedges.
